Christmas is almost here!

Christmas is almost here! I’m excited about our four services in two days!  I’ll be sharing from John 1:43-49 on Sunday morning.  It’s a great story where Nathanael asked about Jesus, “what good thing could come from Nazareth?”  He was basically making fun of the small town where Jesus was born!  God was breaking into Nathanael’s world though, and he made the choice to trust.  Our opening video on Sunday morning will be from the town of Nazareth, PA.  It’s truly a small town…and a great set-up for our conversation.  We’ll also be lighting the fourth Advent candle – the candle of peace.

On Sunday and Monday night, I’ll be sharing from Romans 5:1-5.  “Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.  Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand.”  Powerful words!  Christmas…it was all God’s idea in order to reach out to us.  For these Christmas Eve services I’ll be sharing via video from a historic church in Philly.  It’s a story that will speak of common places and common people.  I think, you’ll enjoy it!

Here are three reminders to make your experience at ValleyPoint for the Christmas season “bright!”

> Reminder #1:  Invite someone to join you!  It’s time to share.  Extend that invitation to Sunday morning at 9:15 or 11am and then invite them back with you to experience Christmas Eve on Sunday, December 23rd at 6pm or Monday, December 24th at 6pm.  We hope, it will be an experience you and your guests won’t soon forget.

> Reminder #2:  Extend generosity to those in need!  You can do that through our Christmas Offering Initiative.  We have a vision this year of generously meeting the needs of poverty (through CityTeam in Chester, PA), orphans (through funding a feeding center for orphans in Smolensk, Russia), and families in crisis (through serving two families in our community).  I believe, God is going to use our generosity to impact our community and the world!  What God wants you to share.  Our goal is $30,000.  You can give online or at ValleyPoint Church through Sunday, January 6th.  You will need to designate your giving as the “Christmas Offering.”  You can do that online or in the memo section of your check.

> Reminder #3:  Sign-up for a Christmas Bible reading plan.  This will give you the opportunity to really focus on how much God loves you.  You can find Christmas Bible reading plans here.

Merry Christmas.  I can’t wait to celebrate with you!
