Communion…weird tradition or meaningful worship? We’re talking about it this Sunday!

I know I overuse this phrase, but I am excited about this Sunday! I want to encourage you to make plans to be part of ValleyPoint this week as we ask and answer another question. Our question this week is something that is intriguing, mysterious, and often confusing. Ready? Here it is. What really happens when I take communion? We could even ask this, “why take communion?” Is it just a weird thing that churches do, or is it an ancient tradition done in community with others that brings clarity to the depths of Christ’s love? Tonia Koehler and Shari Kelly will be joining me this week to help answer these questions. We’re looking forward to our time with you.

We have a communion experience planned for this Sunday that I believe will be something you’ll remember for a long time. Our team has been working hard to creatively package a time that will inspire and point to Jesus. Don’t miss it.

Just For You (great things to do this summer!)…

+ Staying Sweet…a Night of Chocolate (August 7th: During this hot summer a cool shower (or a swim) feels so refreshing, but do you need a little refresher for your heart and mind? All women are invited to come and be encouraged as we hear an interview with Sandi Dill who will share her story of adoption with us. Did you know we each have an adoption story that can be life altering? Tonia Koehler will be sharing from Ephesians chapter one. Bring a friend and a little chocolate to share on Saturday, August 6th at 7pm at the Bethel Road Campus.  We will leave refreshed and with a sweeter outlook on life. Childcare will be provided.

+ Church picnic – Sunday, August 7th: We will gather at the Concord Township Park located at 725 Smithbridge Road, Glen Mills, PA from 4-6pm. We will have food, games, and of course, a lot of fun! Hot dogs and water will be provided. Feel free to bring a blanket and lawn chairs. Follow the guide below for what you can bring based on your last name.

  • A-G: Chips and dip
  • H-L: Juice, tea or other beverage
  • M-S: Side item or pasta salad
  • T-Z: Dessert item

I’ll see you on Sunday. Can’t wait!
