ValleyPoint Church http://valleypointchurch.com Real Relationships >> Real Significance Fri, 18 May 2012 20:00:34 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.3.2 The Cell at ValleyPoint Church! http://valleypointchurch.com/blog/the-cell-at-valleypoint-church.htm?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-cell-at-valleypoint-church http://valleypointchurch.com/blog/the-cell-at-valleypoint-church.htm#comments Fri, 18 May 2012 20:00:34 +0000 Eric Koehler http://valleypointchurch.com/?p=2080 I’m so excited to share with you that we begin a new teaching series this coming Sunday (May 20th) called “The Cell.”  We’re simply going to walk through the incredible words found in the 23rd Psalm.  Often we allow the burdens, complications, and stress of life to weigh us down.  These burdens make us weary, powerless and isolated.  When these burdens are not released, they lead us to a prison cell of darkness.  Unfortunately, “The Cell” becomes the new normal.  It becomes home.  The suffocating presence of this new home crushes our dreams and throws us into misery.  It’s a place that’s hard to leave.  It’s also a place we can’t get out of on our own.  We need…a shepherd.  This is exactly what we discover in Psalm 23!  Take time before Sunday to read through these ancient words and allow them to capture your heart!

I’m also excited to share with you that Ben Jones has moved into the Communications Pastor role at ValleyPoint!  Over the past several years Ben has developed our graphics, video elements, and  programing needs.  Ben also leads the production team on Sunday and has served our high school students.   As the Communications Pastor, he will be responsible for all communication efforts and brand management of ValleyPoint Church through teaching involvement and strategic planning.  You’ll get the chance to hear Ben teach again in an upcoming series called “In The Zone.”  Thank you Ben for everything you do to point people to real relationships that inspire real significance!

Save the date for June 3rd!  This is going to be a day to remember. On this day we will have one combined gathering at 10am as we come together to celebrate those who have put their trust in Christ.  This is a can’t miss day!  If you call ValleyPoint home, you need to be here.  Come support and celebrate this significant decision in these individuals’ lives.  Watch the baptisms and then stay for the tailgate party with food, drinks, and desserts!  On this day, we will also be honoring the graduating high school seniors of ValleyPoint Church.

We wrap up “The Generosity Ladder” this Sunday.  I’m excited about sharing from Matthew 6:19-21.  There is an amazing financial principle found in those verses that can make a huge difference.  Check that out when you get the chance today, and then come ready to start the climb on the generosity ladder.  I’m going to conclude our time by answering some frequently asked questions about “the green stuff.”

Don’t forget about our Membership Class this Wednesday, May 9th.  The Membership Class will give you perspective on the unique vision we have.  This class will also give you the information needed to become a member as well as give you time to ask any questions you may have about ValleyPoint.  You can sign-up here.

Bradley Brittain, our new student director, is officially here to stay!  Students in 6th-12th grade will get the chance to interact with him on Sunday night at the Bethel Road Campus from 6:00-7:30pm.  We’re thrilled to have Bradley on our staff team, and we’re looking forward to watching our student ministry have great impact!
