Happy New Year and welcome to ValleyPoint’s “Life Verse” series. Since 2013, this annual series has started the year with an emphasis on choosing a verse (or two) to challenge, encourage, and sustain.
Why continue? Life Verse 2019 will help us view Scripture as a mentor, guide, and close friend. Life Verse 2019 will help all look to the ancient words of the Bible as something that “humbles us, critiques us, and encourages us with God’s love and grace despite our flaws” (Keller, The Prodigal Prophet, p. 106).
Scripture matters! Join ValleyPoint Church as we answer the “why?” of choosing a life verse and then search together for words to serve as a “lamp to our feet” (Psalm 119:105).

Christmas is filled with sounds that warm the heart, lift the spirit, and prepare us for what many describe as “the most wonderful time of the year.” What we hear at Christmas often brings hope.
The advent of Jesus brought sounds, greetings, and conversations that were anticipated yet unexpected. His grand entrance into the world was not met with a spectacular parade. The surprising truth behind Jesus’ birth is that few were listening. Allow Christmas to awaken your ability to hear. The beauty of Christmas is that it is God’s grand invitation to hear from him again. He loves. He sees. He came.
Do You Hear What I Hear?
Micah, called from his rustic home to be a prophet, leaves his familiar surroundings to deliver a stern message of judgment to the princes and people of Jerusalem. Burdened by the abusive treatment of the poor by the wealthy and influential, the prophet turns his verbal rebukes upon any who would use their social or political power for personal gain.
The theme of Micah’s writings emphasizes the integral relationship between true spirituality and social ethics. Let’s seek wisdom and get ready to learn together!
Act Justly. Love Mercy. Walk Humbly.
“Seasons,” a word that describes a “time of the year” where we change from one season to the next. SEASONS…also has the idea of a period of time. We all walk through life seasons. Scripture even speaks about seasons.
“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest.” Ecclesiastes 3
Your current season will not last forever. It might have something incredible that you do not want to miss! The bottom line: God wants us to rely on him through every season. Will we have the courage to trust?

Many define success by what you achieve and possess. Others define success by how much wealth, education, or acclaim you have acquired. Others interpret success with a career that fulfills or personal goals that have been reached. Still, others outline success as walking away from standard definitions and choosing to live on less.
What if success is different than the standard list?
Let’s look at success through a different lens – a sharper lens that brings a clear focus. Through the investigation of obscure biblical characters, we will discover profound outcomes that bring success.

Grab your Bible, pull up a chair, and discover what Scripture says about the best way to live our lives. It is going to be a character building summer at ValleyPoint as we investigate the qualities that God produces in the lives of those who “walk by the Spirit.” Together, we will be encouraged to say “no” to the flesh and “yes” to strengthening our friendship with God, increasing the influence we have on others, and living our best spiritual year.
This summer, we focus our attention on cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. These nine flavors combine for one great tasting piece of fruit!
9 Flavors
“Generosity is at its core a lifestyle, a lifestyle in which we share all that we have, are, and ever will become as a demonstration of God’s love a response to God’s grace.” (Willard & Sheppard, Contagious Christianity, 2012, p. 18).
What happens when generosity becomes a way of life? What happens when a group of people choose generosity over scarcity? What happens when followers of Jesus hold what they have with open hands? What is the potential of a generous faith community?
Join ValleyPoint Church for a three-week series called “Theology of Generosity.” This series will share the culture of giving at ValleyPoint, point to generosity as a fruit of God’s grace – the product of a transformed heart, and challenge our church to become a community of contagious generosity.
