THE POWER OF PRAYER

In Scripture, we are encouraged to call on God, “I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray.” (Psalm 17v6).

The practice of prayer is essential to our spiritual formation. One of the most remarkable aspects of Jesus’ life is that he prayed. He prayed while working; he prayed over meals, and he prayed in moments of agony and in the quiet of solitude. He also taught others how to pray. If Jesus, the Son of God, prioritized prayer, how much more should we follow his example?

At ValleyPoint, we embrace a simple yet profound principle for prayer: show up and keep showing up regularly. Richard Rolheiser wisely said, “There is no bad way to pray and no single starting point for prayer. All the great spiritual masters offer only one non-negotiable rule: you have to show up for prayer, and you have to show up regularly” (Rolheiser, Prayer: Our Deepest Longing, p. viii).

We invite you to join us on the journey of cultivating this vital spiritual rhythm. Explore this page for more resources to help you grow in prayer.
